How to Package InDesign Files

How to Package InDesign Files

The best way to manage static files, such as covers, introduction pages, terms and conditions, is to save them in Package form.
For the best results of the export, the InDesign files you upload should include Links and Document fonts.

InDesign can automatically create a Package, a folder containing all the files used in the static document.

Here is a guide on how to export a Package:
  1. Got to "File">"Package..."

  2. Select "Package..."

  3. Choose where the Package folder will be saved, and choose the options.
We suggest copying fonts and links to ensure that the final export is as expected.
Make sure to include the IDML file, at Pagination we prefer working with idml files as they are compatible with all InDesign versions.
  4. Done!
You will find a folder containing:
    - Two InDesign files (with extension .indd and .idml)
    - The Links folder containing all images and assets used in the InDesign file in question
    - The Document fonts folder containing all fonts used* in the InDesign file in question

You are now ready and have all the necessary files to upload the static documents in the web app.

 * You will not find the fonts used in the exported package if you use Adobe Fonts in your InDesign document.

Accepted format for Links files

Links files can be files of any format supported by InDesign.
Pagination does not support ".indd" files as links. The ".svg" format is supported for projects that use version 15 (or newer) of InDesign to run.

If you're unsure about files compatibility, you can contact us using support@pagination.com

Accepted extensions for Font files

Here is a list of the font files extensions supported by InDesign and Pagination:
